Hikeshi-Hanten: Fireman's coat of the EDO era in Japan. The 'Fireman Coat' has been a historical medium of study for those interested in Japanese utilitarian design and creativity. Here the motif is seen on a decorative panel that can be used whole or cut into individual blocks. In Navy and Ecru or Light Tan with Coral highlights, this distinctive panel can be a center piece or blocks on a quilt or wall hanging, pillow covers, apparel or tablecloth. The word Wagara means Japanese traditional designs and when applied to a fabric type, this fabric is a slightly loose weave when compared to standard quilting fabric or sheeting giving it a rustic feel and look. Each panel is 100% cotton and is 29.75 inches in length and 45 inches wide, selvage to selvage.
