This beautiful natural Indigo and White Palid is from a small mill, Bingo-Fushiroi, that began over 100 years ago in the small town of Shinichi in Fukuyama city in Hiroshima Prefecture. Bingo-Fushiroi is a cooperative of two Japanese textile houses, Morita Textile and Kittaka Brothers & Co. Both are the only companies today that continue using 100-year-old traditional methods to produce their fabric. Maintaining the old ways, this fabric's thread is dyed by hand using natural indigo, persimmon juice, and charcoal which is then sun dried and woven using a slow, old-fashioned 1950’s shuttle weaving machine, one of the only modern improvements to the process. All fabrics are woven in small batches of 30 meters. Along with solid colors, stripes, and textures, Bingo-Fushiori is also well known for its kasuri, Bingo-Kasuri.
If ordering a quarter yard, it will be cut as a Skinny Quarter and not a Fat Quarter.
